The Process

So, how does this work?

After setting the initial appointment by phone, David or Trudy will meet with you for 90 minutes the first time.  We have a lot of information to gather in order to form a clear picture of how you got to this point and what is most important to focus on in order to reach your goals. That process is facilitated by having completed and signed the necessary forms (you can download those forms below).

Once we have developed a treatment plan, we can decide how often to meet.  Typically, sessions are scheduled weekly for 60-90 minutes each.  Depending on a number of factors, sessions can also be scheduled 1-2 times per month.  We realize that affordability is part of the decision to pursue counseling.

We trust you to keep us informed about how helpful the sessions are or are not.  Everyone is encouraged to be as frank as possible so we can either provide the best treatment possible or refer you to someone who may be more appropriate.  We are aware that sometimes a certain client may not connect well with a certain counselor.

Depending on background, past and present trauma, number and severity of issues, and personal goals for counseling, the length of treatment can vary greatly.  Sometimes, goals can be reached in only a few sessions.  For some, treatment may be much more lengthy and complex.  It is not unusual for issues to surface during the course of treatment which the client was not aware of initially.

We value each client and your right to self-determination. We see our role mostly as facilitating your healing, growth, and transformation… becoming the person you want to be.  We would love to help you become that person.
