David Robertson left a successful career in the corporate world over 30 years ago to help people transform their lives. Initially, he and his wife, Trudy, owned and operated group homes for troubled teenagers for 12 years. They transitioned into private practice as mental health therapists, where they remain today.
David is described as a people person with a strong and genuine concern for the well-being of others. He has a good sense of humor, and uses it appropriately to help create a solid connection with each client. While not often characterized as “in your face”, David is direct and expects clients to work hard at their own “stuff”. Time and money being important to most, David is careful not to waste either as he gets to the core of issues as soon as possible.
David received his Master of Arts in Pastoral Psychology and Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary. In spite of his advanced degree, he has learned more about helping others by working on his own “stuff”. “If my clients only do half the work I have done, they will be in pretty good shape.” His first marriage failed, and his current marriage almost failed at least twice. After 31 years of hard work, David can hardly imagine having a much better relationship than he and Trudy enjoy (yes, Trudy concurs).
“I have a pretty good idea of what does and doesn’t work in trying to improve one’s level of well-being and experience a better life.” Having made many of the same mistakes his clients report, David can truly empathize easily.
David’s life mission statement is to “Significantly improve the level of well-being of individuals, couples, groups, and ultimately, humanity using a variety of modalities in a variety of venues.”
